Clinical diagnosis:splenic lesion.Prior study:ultrasound of 5/10/08 and 8/19/07.
Technique:serial axial images are obtained through the abdomen without and with dynamic IV contrast.Isovue 300 contrast media(100cc) was injected intravenously without event.
Findings:the lung based are clear.The liver,pancreas,gallbladder,adrenal glands,and kidneys are unremarkable.
There is a well circumscribed,low density lesion with the spleen measuring 6.5cm in size.There is no evidence of any enhancement follwing IV contrast.It measures 30Hounsfeld units.This may represent an epidermoid cyst.However,other possibility would include an echinococcal cyst.Clinical correlation is recommended.However,it has apparently increased in size since 2007.
Further clinical correlation is recommended.
There is no abdominal ascites,adenopathy or abdominal mass.The visualized bowel loops are normal.
Impression:6.5cm well circumscribed low density lesion within the spleen.This may represent an echinococcal cyst.Epidermoid cyst.However,it has increased in size since 2007.Further clinical evaluation is recommended.
