except:除了.（表示同类的排除）
1.except+ 名词/代词
如：We all went there except Tom/him.
2.except + 不定式
A except + do.
I have nothing to do except wait here.
（except之前有 实意动词do 时,except 后的不定式没有to.
B.except + to do
I wanted nothing except to have a rest.
( except 之前没有实意动词do,except 后的不定式 有 do
3.except for +名词( 不同类的排除）
The (car) is nice except for the (colour).
括号内的是两个不同的物体.

除…之外。 We all failed except him. 我们都失败了，只有他除外。 except for 只有，除了…以外 (The carpet is good except for its price. 地毯很好，只是价钱太高)。 except that 除了，只是〔后接名词子句〕。 ★except 跟 besides 意义不同。 例如 “We all agreed except him.” 是说“我们都同意，只有他不同意”。 “We all agreed besides him.” 是说“我们都同意，他也同意”。
连接词
1.〔古语〕除非，如果不是 (＝unless)。
2.只是，要不是，除…以外。I would go except it's too far. 要不是路太远，我就去了。
及物动词
把…除去，把…除外 (from). The minors are excepted from the regulation. 未成年者不在此限。 nobody excepted 无人例外。 present company excepted 目前在场者除外。
-able 形容词
可例外的，可除外的。
