Of course by becoming the global village, the world has brought us closer. Even though the physical distances still remain the same (Certainly we can’t expect the earth shrinks, right? Therefore this debate should not be arguing about distances matter, it’s meaningless.), but the advanced transportations such as aeroplane, the improved communication & information systems such as internet, which are provided by the modern technologies, have all contributed to the collapse of distance & time barriers. Why is it that we are not getting closer, when we can have our breakfast with our family at China, & the later having high tea with friends at Paris in the same day?
Other than the communication among global residents, the growing worldwide integration has also produced a whole series of consequences – economic, political, cultural & environmental, which are all closely-related-aspects to our daily life. This is actually another evidence that global village has brought us closer. Globalization (Can I assume that the topic is actually concerning about globalization?) is simply a tool that enables the actions of government to be monitored by other countries & world organizations. That’s why we can support the Iraqis through demonstrations like support our own brothers, when US was planning to declare war on Iraq.
The expansion of global market, too, has caused the business activities to be more dependants upon world economy. Frankly, I can’t see why we are not considered “close” enough to each other, when the increase of oil’s prices at Middle East & US is actually having a knock-on-effect on all the other countries……
Personally, I think lou-zhu can review this topic from many different angles, not solely the communication matter. Theoretically, I believe that by becoming a global village, the world is actually getting all its residents to march towards the realization of thing like Utopia. Though during the process there will be some confrontations going on, however we still looking forwards to the same direction right? Where the sun rising up, I mean, all we want from this global-village-dream is simply the phrase “peaceful forever”, don’t we?
