The Simpsons is the greatest tv show ever made.Don't argue.Therefore,making a movie was always going to be a really bad move in terms of comparitive quality; any writer knows that a 22 minute show is funny much more esily.Quadruple that run time,and you've got a pickle on your hands.
But they've still done it.it rocked!All expectations are fullfilled.
The story is closely related to what's going on around us.It used the global heating-hype well without getting pushy about it,the America of this moment is made fun of like American's are used to but without feeling too forced and over the top.
The references to other films and documentaries (Al Gore`s An Inconvienent Truth is of course in there) are numerous and well found.
All known characters from the tv show are (some more than others) present,although I thought that some of them deserverd some more screentime.
The Simpsons do what is expected from them and Homer is fabolous in the leading part again.What a fantastic character he still is.
On fore hand I was a bit sceptical about wheter or not the format of a 20 minute tv show episode would work for the full hour and 30 minutes,but turned out to be no problem.
The Simpsons Movie is a great spectacle of our favorite cartoon family that is entertaining for the whole running of the movie.For fans as well as for people who are not.
