一是当时美国的压力.美国独立了加拿大却依然只是块殖民地,并且美国从俄国那里买了阿拉斯加,等于加拿大这块腹背受敌.所以当时的领导人就决定成立一个国家,有了政府什么的毕竟比一盘散沙强.
二是英国态度的改变.本来殖民地的用处是制造财富的,现在花的钱反而更多.而且当时通信等不便,倘若美国军队攻打,加拿大去英国调兵再及时赶回的可能性几乎不存在,英国已无法继续保护自己的殖民地.
三是铁路的建设.建了铁路后交通便利了,也便于与西海岸各地区联络,促成了一个国家的成立.
四是对新的交易伙伴的需求.原先英国和各殖民地是有协议的,免交易税.后来英国对很多国家都免交易税了,加拿大作为殖民地已经没有多大的好处,所以脱离了英国去寻找更多交易伙伴.

The US achieved independence while Canada was only a colony.Moreover, America has purchased Alaska from Russia, which means Canada was threatened in the southern area. Therefore, the leaders at that time decided to establish a united country. After all, a united governmet is much better than a mass.
Second,the attitude change of the Great Britain.The colony was set to make fortune, while more money were spent now. The inconvienience of the communication made things worse.If the US would declared a war to Canada, it would be impossible to wait for the help coming from the Great Britain.The Great Britain was not capable to protect its colonies.
Third, the building of the rail way. the transportation was improved and it's more convenient to connect with the west coast areas thanks to the newly- established railways. which promoted the eatablishment of a country.
Fourth,the need for new trading partner. there were agreements without transaction tax between The Great Britain amd the colonies. Later, the transaction tax to the foreign countries was cancelled by The Great Bratain.there were no practical interests as a colony for Canada. So it seperated form The Great Britain to find more trading parterner
