It is haphazard to find it on Sina.The author is visiting scholar living with his daughter in American.I am very glad he vividly described the living situation of Chinese people in American with first hand observation.It could be considered as an unofficial social report.He briefly categorized the oversea Chinese people in American by four categories:1.Students (like us,young and have the protential to learn relative fluent English) 2.Visitng scholar like him( usually be eld and with family.English is a big obstacle to prevent them from being part of American society,but some of them choose to stay in American for the sake of their next generation).3.Illegal immigrant( Most of them lives in China town,doing some heavy and tension work.Their living condition is like the peasant worker in big cities of China.All of their dreams are to become an legal immigrant through amnesty or lawyer.They hope to return hometown with wealth,prestige and respect somedays.However they usually need to pay the stowaway cost and attorney fee of tens of thousand dollar which will put them in a heavy debt in the first several years.They live in kind of fears (legal issue) and poverty (because of debt) at the beginning) 4.Legal immigrant (Investment Immigrant,Extraordinary Ability and Relative Immigrant).Their situation varies greatly everyone has a different story.The author strongly feels more and more people will chose to go back China like people fromTaiwan and HongKong does right now as the China economics continues growing.
