Welcome to Beijing! I’d like to introduce you to the Beijing National Stadium, also known as Bird’s Nest. The stadium is located in Beijing Olympic Park , covering 258,000 square metres. It is 330 metres long, 220 metres wide, and 69.2 metres tall. The construction began on December 24,2003, and was completed at the end of 2007. The splendid Opening and Closing ceremonies are to take place in Bird’s Nest, which will hold the main track and field events as well as football matches during the games. Afterwards the 91,000-seat stadium will serve as the center of sports events, cultural activities and entertainment. It has been honored as one of the latest wonders buildings in China.

The Athens Olympic Games, which lasted 17 days, finally dropped their curtain on Aug. 29, 2004. More than 10,000 athletes from over 200 countries and areas took part. China, in its best Olympic showing in history, won 32 gold medals in 13 events, second only to the United States. The Chinese athletes performed so wonderfully that they made a breakthrough at many events, such as Liu Xiang in men’s 110m hurdles, Sun Tiantian and Li Ting in tennis. The surprising result earned high praise from the central government, which called on all Chinese to learn from the athletes.

Olympic Games is crossing, I am pedestrian. There are many persons who pass here every day, there is Asian, have European, there is old person, have child. Here is traffic fort, joins the friend of all corners of the country. I pass the one of persons of hundreds of millions of here merely, cross it, go to another world. Olympic Games is Holy Land, I am volunteer. This is the land with pure flat, has holy fire from start to finish to accompany in side. Just because it is so, I pay out voluntarily for it, I will let my strength, let this slice of land more clean, let more ones know it, is also willing to devote oneself to it as me. I still help to the person who comes to here, let them enjoy the happiness of this slice of Holy Land. Olympic Games is platform, I am host. It has put up platform for us , lets world know us; It has built bridge for us , lets us and world link up better. This platform may let us display self wantonly.
